RABAT, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Six Moroccans migrants were injured, including two seriously, in the airstrike that hit Wednesday a migrant center in Tajoura, east of the Libyan capital Tripoli, said the Moroccan Foreign Affairs Ministry Thursday.

A total of 18 Moroccan nationals were at the migrant center when it was hit by the airstrike, said the Moroccan ministry in a statement posted on its website.

The injured Moroccans were rushed to a hospital to receive necessary treatment, said the ministry, adding that no death has been reported among Moroccans in this migrant camp.

Direct contacts were made with the various Libyan stakeholders on-site to monitor the situation of Moroccans who could have been injured in the airstrike, according to the same source.

Libya is a main departure place for undocumented migrants from African and Arab countries trying to reach Europe by sea.

Many of them were stopped by the Libyan coast guards funded by the European Union and detained in detention centers in Libya.

An airstrike hit early Wednesday a center for migrants in Tajoura, about 15 km east of Tripoli's downtown, leaving at least 43 people dead, according to health authorities.
