China secures third win at Asian women's U23 volleyball championship

HANOI, July 17 (Xinhua) -- China sealed a lopsided victory over New Zealand on Wednesday at the Asian women's U23 volleyball championship in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

Having an advantage with prominent blockers and attackers, China whitewashed New Zealand 3-0 with scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-10 in 73 minutes. In the third set alone, China secured four blocks compared to two made by New Zealand.

Previously in the tournament, China defeated India and Chinese Taipei with the same final score of 3-0.

Also on Wednesday, Hong Kong lost 1-3 to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) with scores of 16-25, 17-25, 25-17 and 10-25.

China topped the first Asian women's U23 volleyball championship in 2015 in the Philippines, while Japan were crowned winners of the second edition in 2017 in Thailand.
