NAIROBI, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Kenyan women's volleyball team must improve on its reception tactics if it seeks success in Catania, Italy for the Intercontinental Olympic qualifying, said head coach Shaileen Ramdoo from Italy.

The Intercontinental Olympic tournament has 24 teams grouped in six pools, where the top six will qualify to the 2020 Olympic volleyball tournament.

"There is a lot of work to do tactically and technically, especially in reception and game speed. The pressure of the game revealed some unknown errors in reception and we are going to to correct it," said Shaileen Ramdoo.

Kenya departs on July 30 for Italy, two days ahead of the tournament, which runs from August 2-4.

Thereafter, they will travel to Morocco for the African Games, set to start on August 19, to defend their title. Kenya will also play warmup with Morocco prior to the games.

Should Kenya fail to secure the Olympic ticket in Italy, they will have a second chance through the continental qualifiers in January 2020.

Olympic women's volleyball tournament in Tokyo features 12 berths - hosts Japan, the winners of each of six intercontinental qualifying tournaments, and five continental qualification tournament champions. The five continental qualifying competitions will start in January 2020.
