KIEV, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The United States is helping Ukraine develop quick response coast guard units, reported Interfax Ukraine news agency on Tuesday.
Four million U.S. dollars were allocated for the development of such units, said the report citing U.S. Charge d'Affaires William Taylor's words during a roundtable on Ukraine's state border service development.
He noted that Ukraine also needs modern logistics centers to ensure maritime operations, as well as proper ship repair facilities.
The U.S. Department of Defense said last month that the United States would provide 250 million U.S. dollars to Ukraine in an effort to increase the defense capability of the Eastern European country.
