KIEV, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Representatives of the Ukrainian office of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed memorandums of understanding with the leading officials of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to strengthen cooperation, UNDP's official Facebook page said Tuesday.

The head of Donetsk regional state administration Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of Luhansk regional state administration Vitalii Komarnytskyi, and UNDP's resident representative in Ukraine Dafina Gercheva signed the documents in Kramatorsk on Monday.

The officials set targets for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the regions. Key priorities include the reform of local governance and territorial organization, economic growth, civil society in local development, as well as better access to security and justice.

"I express my greatest appreciation to UNDP for the continuous support provided to the people of Donetsk Oblast, and for the programs being implemented to regain peace and stability," said Kyrylenko at the signing ceremony.

UNDP has been engaged in assistance programs in Ukraine since 1993.
