Over 2.1 mln foreigners visit Albania in first half of 2019

TIRANA, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Over 2.1 million foreigners visited Albania in the first half of this year, the State Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) reported on Tuesday.

According to INSTAT, the number of foreign citizens that entered Albania in the first six months of 2019 reached 2,136,952 people, with an increase of 11.3 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

The report showed that only for the month of June, the total number of citizens that entered in the country (Albanian and foreign citizens) reached 1,080,464 people, increasing by 18.4 percent year-on-year.

During the month of June, the number of foreign citizens that arrived in the country is 630,334, increasing by 27 percent year-on-year.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi has declared earlier this year that Albania's tourism-related authorities have set as a goal to attract up to 10 million tourists for 2019.
