ALGIERS, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Algerian interim President Abdelkader Bensalah on Wednesday conducted a cabinet reshuffle, as he named new Justice Minister Belkacem Zeghmati in replacement of Slimane Brahimi, according to a statement of the presidency.
Zeghmati has been Attorney-General at the Supreme Court, as the statement did not provide further details over this cabinet change.
Bensalah also replaced Secretary-General of the Justice Ministry Samir Bourhil with Mohammed Zougar, the source added.
Such changes coincide with a large anti-corruption operation underway in Algeria, which is targeting politicians and prominent businessmen who embezzled and squandered public funds during the era of ousted President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Several senior officials have been detained, such as former prime ministers Abdelmalek Sellal and Ahmed Ouyahia.
