RABAT, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's King Mohammed VI chaired on Wednesday in the northern city of Tetouan the traditional allegiance ceremony in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

The allegiance is the annual traditional loyalty ceremony where dignitaries from across Morocco pledge allegiance to King Mohammed VI.

During this ceremony, the interior minister of Morocco as well as governors of the country's provinces and regions swore allegiance to the king while he was on horseback.

Afterwards, delegations representing different regions, prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom renewed allegiance to the monarch in the same ritual.

The ceremony ended by firing a 5-gun salute.
