VIENNA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The world's largest brick manufacturer, Wienerberger Group, has recorded the best ever half-year in its 200-year history with revenues at a record level and doubling net profit, the company revealed in a press release Tuesday.

The Vienna-based company said its revenues increased eight percent year-over-year for the first six months of 2019 to a total 1.736 billion euros (1.943 billion U.S. dollars), saying its high-quality system solutions were the main contributor to the result.

Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 33 percent over the same period to reach a total 287 million euros, while net profit more than doubled from 53 million euros to 127 million euros.

Wienerberger Group CEO Heimo Scheuch said the boost in company performance was due to "efforts to transform its product range", in particular with a focus on "smart and resource-efficient system solutions".

He said these include innovative building materials, smart solutions to meet the challenges of climate change, digitally designed prefabricated wall elements, and tailor-made electrical solutions for buildings.
