VIENNA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Austria's center-right People's Party (OVP), led by former chancellor Sebastian Kurz, is currently the clear frontrunner ahead of the Sept. 29 federal election with a new poll released Thursday giving it 35 percent of the vote.

The poll, conducted by market research company OGM on behalf of the Kurier daily newspaper, has the center-left Social Democrats (SPO) in the second place on 23 percent, followed by the right-wing populist Freedom Party (FPO) on 20 percent.

In the fourth place was the Greens party on 11 percent, ahead of liberal party NEOS on seven percent.

One in five of the 812 poll respondents said they are not yet sure who they will vote for, however, and only 69 percent said they will definitely cast a vote in the election.

OGM head Wolfgang Bachmayer said the results do not differ much from the European Parliament elections in late May, though noted that campaigning has not yet begun in earnest.
