KIEV, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The United States would consider Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal for Washington to join a four-member diplomatic group to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, a senior U.S. diplomat has said here.
Calling Zelensky's recent proposal to invite the United States or the United Kingdom to join the Normandy Four or the Normandy Format "an interesting offer," U.S. Charge d'Affaires to Ukraine William Taylor reportedly told a local newspaper that the positions of all participants in the diplomatic group are important.
Established in June 2014, the Normandy Format, a diplomatic group of senior officials from Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France, is aimed at resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine that erupted in April 2014.
