BUCHAREST, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Romania will present over 600 titles at the 26th edition of the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), in which the country has the status of honorary guest, the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) announced Monday in a release.

ICR will represent Romania at the five-day fair with about 40 writers and publishing houses and will organize with this occasion new book launches, presentations, readings, debates, exhibitions, theater performances and related cultural events.

"After 70 years of Romanian-Chinese diplomatic relations we have a lot to build together along the New Silk Road," said ICR acting president Mirel Talos, who expressed his gratitude for China to offer Romania the status of honorary guest country.

The philatelic exhibition "Romania-China, 70 years on" will also be presented at the 300 sqm Romanian stand in the central area of the exhibition space. More than 100 philatelic issues devoted to both countries have been put out since 1954, when the first stamp dedicated to the People's Republic of China was released in Romania.

BIBF will be held at the New China International Exhibition Center from Aug. 21 to 25, with a total of 2,600 exhibitors from 95 countries and regions, according to the organizer.
