BUCHAREST, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- NR Investments Ltd., a Guernsey property investment company, ratified an agreement on Monday with Avia Invest to acquire 95 percent of the concession company of Chisinau International Airport.

The press service of the airport confirmed the information but declined to give further details on the transaction value, according to news reports reaching here from Chisinau, capital of Moldova.

Chisinau International Airport, the largest and the only international airport in the former Soviet republic, transferred its operations and management to local Avia Invest in November 2013, under a private-public partnership model. The concessionaire pledged to manage the airport for 49 years and invest 250 million euros (277 million U.S. dollars) in its modernization.

At present, 16 airlines operate flights from the airport to 38 destinations that include London, Dublin, Paris, Istanbul and Moscow, among others. The Airport handled 2.8 million passengers in 2018, a 14.8-percent cumulative annual increase since 2010. Economists forecast the number of passengers going through this airport will exceed 3 million this year.

According to a statement released on Monday, NR Investments has an extensive experience in property and infrastructure investments in central Europe.
