Myanmar's maritime trade reaches over 21.6 bln USD in FY 2018-19

YANGON, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's sea trade with foreign countries reached over 21.6 billion U.S. dollars as of Aug. 16 in present fiscal year 2018-2019, said figures from the Commerce Ministry on Monday.

From October 2018 to August 16 this year, export value through sea route amounted over 8.4 billion U.S. dollars while its import shared 13.2 billion U.S. dollars.

This year's figures showed a slight decrease of over 1.4 billion U.S. dollars compared to the same period of previous FY 2017-2018 when last FY's sea trade amounted over 23 billion U.S. dollars.

During the over 10-month period, Myanmar's total trade with foreign countries reached over 30.6 billion U.S. dollars, of which its border trade value registered 8.9 billion U.S. dollars, the ministry's figures said.

Myanmar mainly exports its agricultural products, animal products, fisheries, minerals and forest products, while capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods are imported to the country.
