BELGRADE, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's "miraculous success" in the past 70 years has created "harmonious and peaceful conditions" for its future progress, a Serbian expert has said in a recent interview with Xinhua.

On the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Radosav Pusic, a professor of Chinese language and culture and the director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Belgrade, said that Chinese society has greatly benefited from the country's dedication to development, prosperity and progress.

"China eradicated hunger, illiteracy, tackled many adversities, made society richer, more stable, human and better. Chinese cities and the lives of the Chinese children, along with progress in science, sports and art, show that China already stepped into its modernity," he said.

Pusic explained how the Communist Party of China overcame the historical challenges of the 20th century with constant efforts to shape China into a prosperous and modern society.

He noted that "the strength of a country lies in its willingness to invest in solving problems," and the Chinese people have the capacity to recognize and solve challenges in order to secure constant development in the future.

Pusic said that the Chinese people are well-prepared to face any challenges to further development in the future.

"So far, China has shown that it can find solutions and emerge victorious from the most difficult historical and social challenges, and I don't see why this would change in the future," Pusic said.

He recalled that he chose to study the Chinese language and culture 38 years ago out of pure love for the subject, although the subject originally wasn't very popular among students.

However, Pusic said that in the past decade he has witnessed an increased interest in China and Chinese language-learning in Serbia.

The two countries have been active in stepping up their cooperation in all fields, from people-to-people exchanges to technology, which paves the way for stronger ties between the two countries.

Commenting on the Serbia-China friendship, he noted that it was forged in "difficult times, amidst historical challenges and desires."

"Both China and Serbia have lived through tumultuous periods of their modern history in the struggle for freedom, peace and the right to decide on their own destiny independently," he said.

"Mutual rapprochement in every respect, mutual assistance, respect and closer understanding between people can provide good grounds for deepening the China-Serbia friendship further," Pusic said.

Congratulating China on the 70th anniversary of its founding, Pusic wished for it to "continue following the best and most valuable of its traditions, to continue development, prosperity and progress, making lives of common people richer, and lives of youths more meaningful."
