Japan's industrial output increases 1.3 percent on month in July

TOKYO, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Japan's factory output increased in July, the government said in a report on Friday.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, industrial output here rose 1.3 percent in the recording month, following a revised 3.3 percent decrease in June.

The ministry also said in its preliminary report that the seasonally adjusted index of output at factories and mines stood at 102.7 against the 2015 base of 100.

The index of industrial shipments in July rose 2.6 percent to 102.4. Inventories, meanwhile, were down 0.3 percent to 104.4 in the recording period, the ministry said.

Manufacturers surveyed by the ministry said that looking ahead, they expect factory output to rise 1.3 percent in August and decline 1.6 percent in September.
