Riga, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Police in Latvia have seized more than 300 kilograms of narcotics in a single shipment, chief of the Latvian police Ints Kuzis said on Tuesday.

Kuzis told newscast of the LNT television channel that in an operation on Monday the police found the drugs in a shipment from another European country.

There were three types of drugs in the shipment -- metamphetamine, hashish and ecstasy. A large part of the shipment was destined for the Latvian market, according to Kuzis. He did not disclose more detailed information about the shipment and did not name the country where it originated.

Police have arrested six people in relation to this case. All of them are residents of Latvia with connections to organized crime, said Kuzis.

This is one of the biggest drug busts by the Latvian police this year. In May over 400 kilograms of various narcotics destined for the Russian market were seized. In January two tons of cocaine from Ecuador were found in central Latvia at a farm that was a transit point for transporting cocaine to other countries.
