KAMPALA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- A Rwandan national and her friend were late on Thursday shot dead by unknown gunmen in Uganda's capital Kampala, a police spokesperson said here on Friday.
Fred Enanga, police spokesperson said in a statement that Maya Florence Kamukazi and her Ugandan friend Joshua Ruhegyera Ntereho were gunned down on Thursday night at Nambigirwa Bridge, along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway.
"The two bodies were retrieved and transported to Mulago City Mortuary for post mortem examination to establish the cause of the death," said Enanga.
"At this stage, the exact motivation towards the double shooting and murder is not yet established," he added.
The police spokesperson said they have arrested their own officer Davis Taremwa who traveled with the two deceased.
The country has registered similar shooting incidents in the recent past where unknown gunmen have killed two senior police officers, a legislator and a senior state prosecutor, among others.
