WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Two people remained hospitalized after a multilevel deck collapse in Wildwood, a city in the U.S. state of New Jersey, injured over 20 people on Saturday evening, local media reported on Sunday.

Nineteen people, including three children, have been released from the hospital by Sunday noon, according to New Jersey local news website nj.com, citing a spokeswoman for a local hospital.

Two others were transferred to a local trauma center, nj.com added.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Saturday at a condo complex in Wildwood.

Officials said that the decks on the second and third floors of the seven-unit condo complex "suffered a complete pancake type collapse."

It remains unclear what caused the collapse.

A witness told nj.com that there was approximately eight to 10 people gathered on each deck when they collapsed.
