HANOI, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Lotus, a new social network of Vietnam, was launched here on Monday, with its Vietnamese developer hoping to quickly attract four million users.

With Lotus, a social network developed and owned by Vietnamese people, the content is the king, so its users and other stakeholders can benefit from useful contents, including in-depth articles and multimedia data, a representative of the network's developer, Vietnamese firm VCCorp, said at the launching ceremony.

VCCorp has mobilized 700 billion Vietnamese dong (30.4 million U.S. dollars), and planned to mobilize additional 500 billion Vietnamese dong (21.7 million U.S. dollars) for Lotus development, so that the social network will soon have four million users, and then 20 million users, said the representative.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung highly appreciated VCCorp's pledges to create healthy and useful contents on Lotus, bring win-win cooperation to users and other participants, and ensure information security.
