First National Nomad Games kick off in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The First National Nomad Games started on Monday in the Talas Oblast in the northwest of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country's Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism said.

The games will be held in 10 kinds of national sports, including equestrian sports, hunting games, horse racing, national wrestling, traditional intellectual games.

A total of 700 people from seven oblasts of the country will participate in the games, which involve 63 referees, and about 2,000 people will participate in the cultural part.

The games will be completed on Sept. 21 with a theatrical performance "Universe of Nomads" involving about 1,000 volunteers.

Within the framework of the National Nomad Games, each oblast will present a cultural program.

Previously, Kyrgyzstan held the World Nomad Games three times in 2014, 2016 and 2018. About 2,000 athletes from about 70 countries attended the last games. After these games, the president of Kyrgyzstan initiated the annual National Nomad Games.
