Landslide in northern Ethiopia leaves 3 dead

ADDIS ABABA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) --A landslide in Ethiopia's Amhara regional state, located in the northern part of the country have left three people dead, local authorities said on Tuesday.

In a press statement, Communication Office, Janamora locality, Amhara regional state, said the landslide which happened on Monday morning left three people dead including a 16 months' toddler.

The statement said all the three dead were from one family, with the landslide also causing extensive property damage in the area.

The statement further said rescuers still digging up in the area to find any more survivors.

Ethiopia is in the midst of a rainy season which started in July and is expected to last until late-September, which occasionally causes landslides in some parts of the East African country.
