ULAN BATOR, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an international cultural event here on Tuesday, with the aim to promote cultures of foreign countries to its people.

At the event, more than 20 foreign embassies and international organizations in Mongolia set up pavilions in the central square of the country's capital Ulan Bator to promote their countries' food, books, traditional costumes, handcrafts and others. In addition, they provided visitors with information.

Particularly, China's pavilion showcased "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," "Water Margin," "Dream of the Red Chamber" and "Journey to the West," or the four great classical novels of Chinese literature, traditional Chinese hand fans and umbrellas and chinaware with beautiful patterns.

Mongolian visitors to the event enjoyed various traditional cuisines of other countries, such as Chinese green tea, Russian smoked fish, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, Uzbek plov and Indian samosa.

A number of foreign artists performed traditional songs, dances and music of their countries at the event.
