BISHKEK, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a grant of 50 million U.S. dollar to Kyrgyzstan to support efforts to diversify its economy, the bank's resident mission here said Tuesday.

The ADB assistance is intended to help the central Asian country gradually reduce its economic reliance especially on gold mining and to create new business opportunities and jobs, according to the bank.

The Promoting Economic Diversification Program has two subprograms worth 50 million dollars each in 2019 and 2021.

The program will support Kyrgyz efforts to carry out reforms in four areas set out by the country's national development strategy from 2018 to 2040.

The bank has since 2007 delivered support for the Kyrgyzstan's efforts to diversify its economy.
