ASEAN countries join hands to combat cross-border crimes

HANOI, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of delegates from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), some other countries and international police organizations are seeking measures to prevent and fight against emerging crimes in the region, Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Delegates to the 39th ASEAN Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL) Conference, which opened on Wednesday in Vietnam's capital Hanoi, are centering their discussions on cooperation in the prevention and fight against narcotics trafficking, terrorism, weapon smuggling, human trafficking, credit card fraud, high-tech crime, illegal wildlife trade, among others.

The three-day conference has seen the participation of nearly 300 delegates from ASEAN state members; ASEANAPOL's 10 dialogue partners, and the International Criminal Police Organization; and ASEANAPOL's six observers.
