ISTANBUL, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A huge fire broke out on Wednesday at a factory inside an industrial zone in Istanbul, forcing the evacuation of the compound.
The incident happened at a chemical factory belonging to Ema Chemical Systems-Huntsman that is located inside the Orhanli organized industrial zone in the Tuzla district on the Asian side of the city, the NTV broadcaster said.
Firefighters and ambulances were dispatched to the area and workers of the factory have been evacuated, NTV said, noting the cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
According to press reports, explosions are happening from time to time, potentially threatening the flights at the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport nearby.
