TUNIS, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister and leader of Tahya Tounes party Youssef Chahed on Friday called on Defense Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi to "sit down together at the dialogue table and unify efforts to save the country."

"The goal is to form a parliamentary bloc in order to save the country before the legislative elections," Chahed said in an interview with the private radio station Mosaique FM.

He pointed out that he had failed to assemble the centrist forces before the first round of Tunisia's early presidential election.

According to the preliminary results of this presidential election, Chahed received 7.38 percent of all the votes, coming in the fifth place.

The results of this election showed that Zbidi came fourth with 10.73 percent of the votes, after independent candidate Kais Saied, leader of Heart of Tunisia party Nabil Karoui and Islamist candidate Abdelfattah Mourou, current interim speaker of parliament.

Official results released on Tuesday by the Independent High Authority for Elections showed Saied leading the first round of Tunisia's early presidential election with 18.4 percent of the votes, while Karoui followed with 15.58 percent. Enditem
