BERLIN, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Thomas Delaney's late own goal cost Borussia Dortmund a win at Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach came from behind to beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-1 on Marcus Thuram brace at the 5th round of Bundesliga on Sunday.
The "BVB" immediately took over control and needed only ten minutes to open the scoring on the road as Axel Witsel made no mistake to slot home Thorgan Hazard's square pass.
Dortmund continued powerful and controlled the ball but still the visitors remained sloppy with their finish.
Despite controlling the proceedings on the pitch, it were the hosts' who restored parity before the break as Andre Silva drilled the ball to the inside of the right post from where the ball bounced into the goal.
After the restart, both teams created opportunities at both ends of the pitch as Erik Durm's shot got blocked before Sancho was unable to beat Frankfurt goalkeeper Trapp twice.
As the clock ticked, Dortmund gained the upper hand and pressed Frankfurt into their territory.
The visitor's efforts eventually paid off in the 66th minute when Trapp fisted Raphael Guerreiro's free kick into the path of Sancho, who tapped home the rebound to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards.
However, the hosts' had the last laugh and rallied back in the closing period as Delaney deflected Daich Kamada's shot across the goal to level the scores.
With the draw, Borussia Dortmund slipped from the 2nd to the 3rd position meanwhile Eintracht Frankfurt stay on the 9th place of the Bundesliga standings.
"We are of course disappointed. We had promising chances to extend the lead, especially in the first half. Our final pass wasn't good enough today," Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre said.
Elsewhere, Borussia Monchengladbach secured their second straight win as Marcus Thuram's second-half brace cancelled out Kasim Adam's first-half opener for Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim will conclude the 5th round on Monday.
