JERUSALEM, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Air Force has appointed its first-ever female commander of a flight squadron, the military announced on Wednesday.
The pilot, identified only by her first initial as Lt. Col. G., was appointed as the commander of the "Nachshon Squadron," an intelligence unit that operates surveillance aircraft.
The 35-year-old commander is a wife and a mother of two boys, according to a press release issued by the military.
Israeli Air Force Commander Amikam Norkin said during her appointment ceremony that military should promote more women as air force pilots, commanders, and combat troops.
