BEIRUT, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- President Michel Aoun said Wednesday that Lebanon is a peaceful country but it will not spare any efforts to defend itself if it is faced by any attacks or aggression.
"We have a legitimate right to defend ourselves by all possible means," Aoun said according to a statement published by his media office in Lebanon.
Aoun's remarks came during the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Aoun also expressed Lebanon's commitment to its sovereign rights and ownership of Shebaa Farms, the hills of Kfarchouba and north Ghajar while adding that Lebanon will exert much efforts to demarcate its land and maritime borders under the supervision of the United Nations.
Aoun also slammed Israel's successive violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and its latest attack against Beirut's southern suburbs.
