NICOSIA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Cyprus will build a large thematic park in the country's western part, local media reported on Friday.

StockwatchCy, which specializes in economic news, said that the park, with an investment of some 12 million euros, is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2021.

The park is located near the village of Neo Chorio, the most western community of Cyprus, which is also the entrance to the Akamas National Park -- the most picturesque region of the eastern Mediterranean island.

The park, named Mythos, is addressed to the large numbers of tourists, mostly from Britain and Germany. The region is also very popular with the local population and Chinese nationals.

StockwatchCy quoted Savvas Hadjiminas, the CEO of Goldsky S.H Ltd, the company which will build the park, said it will include recreation installations, such as restaurants, cafes, 3D cinema and an 800-seat theater.

Hadjiminas was quoted as saying the plans have taken into account the fact that the park must blend into its surroundings so as not to encroach on the area of Akamas National Park and the numerous protected species of fauna and flora.

He said that construction will start immediately after last required building licensed is issued by the local authorities. The park will cover an area of 45,000 square meters.
