BERLIN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Luca Waldschmidt's 2-1 decider against Fortuna Dusseldorf secured Freiburg the fourth win of the season and Hertha Berlin inflicted struggling Cologne the third straight loss to conclude the 6th round in Bundesliga on Sunday.

Freiburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf staged a cautious start into the game as both sides kept all their men behind the ball and avoided any kind of offensive actions.

Hence, the spectators had to wait until the 42nd minute before Rouwen Hennings opened the scoring out of the blue after heading home a corner from Erik Thommy.

The hosts remained unimpressed and responded very well as Dusseldorf failed to clear the ball from the area allowing Jonathan Schmid to restore parity only three minutes later.

After half time, Freiburg had the golden chance to turn the tide as the referee awarded the hosts a penalty after consultation with the video assistant referee in the 62nd minute. Nicolas Hofler stepped up but squandered the penalty after hammering the ball into the arms of goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

Dusseldorf continued to be the more active team and created opportunities in the closing period but Kenan Karaman saw his effort defused by custodian Alexander Schwolow before Karaman pulled over the target from a promising position.

The hosts cut a better figure in front of the goal as substitute Waldschmidt finished off a solo run with a hammer from 18 meters to wrap up all three points on home soil.

With the result, in form Freiburg climb on the 3rd place whereas Fortuna Dusseldorf slipped to the 14th position of the standings.

Elsewhere, Hertha Berlin cruised 4-0 past ten-men Cologne after substitute Vedad Ibisevic scored twice within four minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

The "Old Lady" smoothed the way for the win against uninspired hosts' as Javairo Dilrosun broke the deadlock with 23 minutes played.

To make things worse for Cologne, the hosts had to continue the game with ten-men as Jorge Mere saw a straight red card for a rude foul play before the break.

Berlin benefitted on their numerical advantage after the restart as Ibisevic doubled the lead, a minute after his fielding. The striker remained in the thick of things as he sewed up his brace left footed four minutes later.

The visitors were not done with the scoring as Dedryck Boyata got his name on the score sheets as well after rounding off the 4-0 win on the road.

The victory move Hertha Berlin on the 10th spot meanwhile Cologne slumped to the 17th position.
