PARIS, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- At the end of September, auto manufacturers in France reported a 16.6 percent increase in their sales of new cars, the French car manufacturers' body CCFA said on Tuesday.
Last month, car sales stood at 173,444 units compared to 148,750 vehicles sold in September 2018, the CCFA said in its monthly report.
Renault, France's second largest auto maker, posted a 21.8 percent growth in sales. PSA Peugeot Citroen also saw its sales go up by 8.4 percent to 57,621 units.
Non-French brands have also lured more clients by selling 70,159 new vehicles, up 20.7 percent year-on-year, due mainly to an 87 percent increase in Nissan's sales.
France's automobile market was set to stagnate for the whole of 2019 compared to a three percent increase registered a year earlier, according to the CCFA.
