China's Lyu Huihui lost the women's javelin throw final to Australia's Kelsey-Le Barber, while the United States won all the other three gold medals on offer at Tuesday's Doha athletics world championships.
DOHA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The United States became the biggest winner of Tuesday night with three gold medals at the Doha athletics world championships.
In the only other event that was not won by the Americans, women's javelin throw title favorite Lyu Huihui of China saw her winning streak of more than four months go to an abrupt stop, losing the final to Australia's Oceanian champion Kelsey-Lee Barber who produced the winning throw of 66.56m in her last attempt.
Lyu also fell behind her teammate Liu Shiying who threw 65.88 to get silver and had to settle for the same position in 65.49 as she was in London two years ago.

"I am not satisfied because I have already competed at two world championships before and got a silver and a bronze and I really wanted a gold this time," said Lyu. "My performance today was not good. I did not deal with details well."
The men's 200m saw Noah Lyles race to victory in 19.83 seconds and Doha 100m bronze medalist Andre De Grasse of Canada bagged a silver in 19.95. Alex Quinonez from Ecuador was third in 19.98.

"So many times this year I've thought of being world champion, you wouldn't believe it - I have it on my phone, I say it to myself in my car, I think it all the time - and finally to have done it feels unbelievable," said Lyles.
"I don't know how many people come to their first world championships and get the gold but I've done it," he added.

China's Xie Zhenye finished seventh in 20.14 as the first Chinese man running in a 200m final at the world championships.
"My performance is acceptable today, although I ran a bit slower than yesterday. It was my first in the final so it was an all new experience for me. I was happy and excited," said Xie, who qualified as the third fastest runner in the semifinals in 20.03.
"The race was difficult for me because I was in the most inside lane. But at the same time it also filled me with confidence for next year's Tokyo Olympic Games," added the Asian record holder.
Donavan Brazier created a championships record of 1:42.34 to win the men's 800m ahead of Amel Tuka of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1:43.47. Kenyan Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich was third in 1:43.82.
"I've said all season that my goal was to get here and to break this record, and that's what I did. It means the world to me," said 22-year old Brazier.
Defending champion Sam Kendricks fended off tough challenge from 20-year-old Swedish Armand Duplantis to take the men's pole vault title at 5.97m. Duplantis, U20 world champion and European titlist, came second while Poland's Piotr Lisek, London world championships silver medalist, bagged a bronze this time. ■
