TASHKENT, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan is planning to abolish criminal liability for breaching the rules of stay in the country, in line with foreign practice, the country's parliament said Tuesday.

Deputies at the Legislative Chamber of the parliament Oliy Majlis have prepared the draft law to push forward the legal process, the press service of the parliament said.

Study of the criminal law of foreign countries shows that there is no criminal liability for violation of the rules of stay, and to follow suit helps Uzbekistan to accelerate reforms aimed at further increasing the tourism potential of the country, said the deputies.

Uzbekistan's government has taken a series of measures to boost tourism this year, aiming to attract more than 9 million foreign tourists by 2025 and increase the share of tourism in the GDP from 2.3 percent in 2017 to 5 percent by 2025.
