Afghan police discover 30 kg heroin, arrest 4 in northern Badakhshan province

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Police in the northern Badakhshan province have arrested four drug smugglers and discovered 30 kg heroin from their possession, provincial government spokesman Nik Mohammad Nazari said Thursday.

Acting upon intelligence report, the counter-narcotic police raided a hideout in Argo district late Wednesday night discovered 30 kg heroin and arrested four drug smugglers, the official said.

According to the official, the arrested drug traffickers were attempting to take the contraband to a neighboring country but their conspiracy has been foiled.
