JOHANNESBURG, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- African countries should unite to address the issue of migration, integration, infrastructural deficiencies and other challenges facing the continent, said Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in South Africa, Bene Lofongo M'Poko on Friday in Johannesburg.
M'Poko was speaking at the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) which is one of the organs of the African Union where African parliamentarians meet to discuss the problems and challenges facing the continent.
He stated that Africa has resources yet its citizens are poor. To address poverty and unemployment, "the only way is to work together".
"We want one Africa with one voice. We will debate issues of interest to Africa including migration and security. How do you call African people in the African countries migrants? How do you talk of AfCFTA and trade without solving the issue of migration, language and currency?" said PAP President Roger Nkodo Dang.
Dang requested diplomatic corps to advise their countries to ratify the Malabo Protocol to enable them to carry out their duties well. He said some PAP members from different African countries are required to apply for visas to attend the session which he said is not good for the continent.
The Moroccan Ambassador to South Africa Youssef Amrani added his voice by calling for African countries to work with South Africa to address violence against foreigners. He said Africa have lots of challenges which require unity.
