TAIPEI, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's inflation level continued to move up gradually in September, as the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.43 percent from a year earlier, according to the island's statistics authorities.

Authorities attributed the mild increase to higher prices of fruits and vegetables due to the heavy rain brought by Typhoon Lekima in August.

Fruit prices in September went up 7.34 percent year on year, while vegetable prices increased 2.37 percent from the previous year.

On a monthly basis, the September CPI rose 0.17 percent from August.
