RABAT, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The number of passengers travelling through Moroccan airports reached 16.686 million during the first eight months of 2019, up 12.3 percent year on year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said Wednesday.
Morocco's biggest airport Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca received 6.92 million passengers, up 5.2 percent year on year, it added.
It was followed by the Marrakech airport, which received 4.163 million passengers, up 24.92 percent year on year.
The number of passengers flying to Europe accounted for 76 percent of the traffic, followed by North America and Africa.
In 2018, the number of passengers at Moroccan airports hit a record high of 22.5 million, with a year-on-year increase of 10.4 percent.
