Taiwan tax revenue drops in September

Taiwan's total net tax revenue was 233.3 billion new Taiwan dollars (7.57 billion U.S. dollars) in September, down 4.3 percent from the same period last year.

TAIPEI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's total net tax revenue was 233.3 billion new Taiwan dollars (7.57 billion U.S. dollars) in September, down 4.3 percent from the same period last year, according to the island's financial authority.

The profit-seeking enterprise income tax and individual income tax contributed most to the loss, which decreased 9.9 billion new Taiwan dollars and 3 billion new Taiwan dollars respectively, the data showed.

For the January-September period, the total net tax revenue was 1.87 trillion new Taiwan dollars, edging up 0.6 percent more than the same period last year.

For the period, profit-seeking enterprise income tax increased 36.3 billion new Taiwan dollars, while securities transaction tax, individual income tax and business tax decreased 14.5 billion new Taiwan dollars, 14.2 billion new Taiwan dollars, and 3.5 billion new Taiwan dollars, respectively.
