Orange alert for drought issued Monday in E China's Jiangxi

Average precipitation from late July to early October in Jiangxi Province sees an obvious decrease comparing to the average in the previous years.


NANCHANG, Oct. 15, 2019 (Xinhua) -- An orange alert for drought is issued Monday in the east China's Jiangxi Province as a response to decreasing precipitation.

The water level of the Ganjiang River in the Nanchang section fell to 11.57 meters due to less rainfall. Average precipitation in the province stood at 96 mm from late July to early October, about 70 percent less than the average in the previous years.
