WINDHOEK, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's meat processing and marketing entity Meatco said that to date, over 80 containers of beef destined for the Chinese market have been produced at their factory since the first consignment of 21 tonnes of Namibian beef to China was sent in March this year.

Most containers' average weight is 24 tonnes and in total, and approximately 1,965-tonnes of beef have been produced. These include 25 containers currently at Namibia's Walvis Bay Port and 36 containers on the water, Meatco's spokesperson Rosa Hamukwaya-Tobias told Xinhua on Tuesday.

"The orders are coming in on a daily basis. And there is obviously an increase in the orders," the entity added.

Meanwhile, Meatco said that since the Chinese market is still a new market, the entity, after a 12-month period, will be able to determine the exact amount of beef the Chinese market requires annually. Enditem
