Namibia women's netball coach happy with squad ahead of M1 Nations Cup

WINDHOEK, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Julene Meyer, head coach of the Namibia women's netball team, said her players are mentally and physically ready to challenge hosts Singapore, Botswana, the Cook Islands, Ireland and Papua New Guinea at the M1 Nations Cup, which runs from October 20 to 26 in Singapore.

"My players are fit. They know what is required of them," Meyer told Xinhua on Tuesday before the team left for Singapore, with its first game against the host nation.

"We are going there to compete against some of the best teams in the world. Any team goes to tournaments to win and that is also one of our objectives. However, a good performance will be good as it will also help us when it comes to the rankings," added Meyer.

The Namibia squad, including coaches, is as follows: Vehonga Ndjitaviua, Ella Elizabeth Du Plessis, Antoinette Wentworth, Sunette Burden (assistant coach), Imbileni Frans, Tjajinda Kambatuku, Leandri Van Der Walt, Tangeni Hanyanya, Venyekerera Maharero, Etuhole Shipanga, Jatjinda 'Toetsie'Tjihero, Emmy Kutako, Anna Kasper, Zauana Jaumbaije, Julene Meyer (head coach), Himeezembi Tjejamba.
