AMMAN, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The close ties and cooperation between Arab countries and China should focus on shifting from oil for money to oil for technology cooperation, Samer Khair Ahmad, a Jordanian writer, said Tuesday.

In an interview with Xinhua on the sidelines of a ceremony to launch his new book: "The Rise of the East," the writer said Arab states can greatly benefit from the Chinese experience in development.

The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a great opportunity for the Arab states to develop ties with China on the basis of mutual benefits and develop commercial and investment ties between the two sides, in addition to the transfer of technology to the Arab states to enable them to increase their exports to China, he added.

The 150-page book focuses on Chinese successes in economic fields, the potentials for China's rise and the failures of the Arab reforms in recent years, shedding light on the importance of exploring the future of China-Arab relations, especially through the BRI, according to the Jordanian writer.
