LISBON, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised up its forecasts for Portuguese economic growth in 2019 and 2020 to 1.9 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively, from 1.7 percent and 1.5 percent made in July, Portuguese Lusa News Agency reported on Tuesday.

With the upward revision of 0.2 percentage points in 2019, the IMF put its forecast in line with that of the Portuguese government.

As for the year of 2020, the IMF turned its forecast upward by 0.1 percentage points for Portugal, but it remains less optimistic than the government, which estimates 1.9 percent for both years.

The IMF forecasts were released on Tuesday in the World Economic Outlook (WEO), the report said.

Meanwhile, the IMF also anticipated a fall in the Portuguese unemployment rate to 6.1 percent this year and 5.6 percent in 2020. Enditem
