BEIJING, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- "Gemini Man," a science fiction action film directed by Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, is set to hit Chinese mainland theaters on Friday, according to the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.

The film stars Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a younger clone of himself that seemingly can predict his every move.

The worldwide release of "Gemini Man" started this month, with a U.S. theatrical release on Oct. 11.

Ang Lee won the Academy Award for Best Director twice, in 2013 for "Life of Pi" and in 2006 for "Brokeback Mountain." The martial arts film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" directed by him won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2001.
