KUNMING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province cracked a drug trafficking case and seized over 12.8 kg of methamphetamine, local authorities said Friday.
Honghe border police received a tip-off in early October that a batch of drugs would be transported across the border.
On Oct. 10, police set up an ambush in Longling County under the city of Baoshan, and found a suspect on the mountain road at around 8 p.m. The man ran away, but police found 27 bags of methamphetamine weighing over 12.8 kg left on the road.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crimes, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
