China thrash Germany 4-0 to reach women's soccer quarters at Military World Games

WUHAN, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China women's football team powered through the German side 4-0 in the second round of group A at 7th Military World Games here on Saturday, ensuring a ticket to the quarterfinal in advance.

Lyu Yueyun took an early lead for the host in the 6th minute thanks to a direct pass from Zhang Rui. Just One minute later, Ren Guixin converted a header to lead 2-0.

The home team controlled the process all through the game as Ren Guixin and Xiao Yueyi added two more goals in the second half.

"Our players had very good combination play in the game. We played better in the first half. After we qualified from the group, we aim to win the title. We will try our best," said Chinese coach Zhang Zhengchun.

In the other game in group A, South Korea beat the United States 2-0 to take second place. In group B, DPR Korea eased past France 4-0, while Brazil were held to a goalless draw by Cameron.
