BEIJING, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Palace Museum will team up with Peking University and the Dunhuang Academy in cultural relics protection and research, as well as personnel training, after signing a cooperation agreement on Sunday.

The three institutions will pool their resources and establish a multi-disciplinary collaborative research mechanism to fully explore cultural heritage.

Together, they will speed up the construction of a scientific and technological innovation system for cultural relics and seek breakthroughs in basic research, key technologies, major domestic equipment development and other fields.

They will facilitate collaboration among scholars, jointly host expositions and boost cultural exchanges among Belt and Road countries.

The Dunhuang Academy, located in northwest China's Gansu Province, administers the Mogao Grottoes, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the cultural integration and mutual learning among different civilizations along the ancient Silk Road.
