Mahler Chamber Orchestra returns to Beijing Music Festival after four years

BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The world-renowned Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) has returned to the Beijing Music Festival after four years, marking the start of its three-year residency at the festival as the first "resident orchestra."

The MCO will present three concerts at the 22nd Beijing Music Festival from Oct. 20 to 25, featuring romantic music works from Germany, Austria and other countries, as well as works by young Chinese composers such as Du Yun and Zhou Tian.

Founded by conductor Claudio Abbado in 1997, the MCO currently comprises 45 members from over 20 countries. In 2015, the orchestra performed original works at the 18th Beijing Music Festival.
